Raksha Bandhan special!!

 Kuch khas hai aaj ka din! wore a brand new teal color embroidered chiffon saree, a unique one if I may say so!

It’s rakshabandhan .. a day dedicated to brothers and sisters ka Anmol bonding ..

Just enjoyed immensely a day of festivities since my sis in law is visiting and after ages she gets to tie rakhee to her brother and loomba ( rakhee for bhabhi) to me

It was such a nice day emotionally fulfilling and soothing to our tummies too - poori, aloo ki gravy wali sabji, kheer and mirch ki hing wali sookhi sabji .. all rasoi by none other than my dearest nanad Swati Sharma

And the best gift ever - she wore a saree and we had a ji bhar ke photoshoot !! Aur ky chaiye

rakhee for our rocky is a must too...

This is a very special day, super duper hot in Chicago - annual tradition of Satnarayan katha at my home. But still planned to wear this heavy look wala lightweight saree .. loved every moment of wearing this.. I was pahele skeptical about the saree since I have never worn something like this before .. but this really brought out the new bride look in me, A silk Banaras wali sari with beautiful golden weaves .. Selective jewelry for this special day ..

With my baby Rocky who kept wondering why is mommy dear looking this way!

How can I not mention my fav saree speak lifelines from Chicago and my neighborhood gang who graced the occasion .. Ninette Helsaba Abraham Tannavi Jaiswal Avani Deshpande Ramani Deolalikar,Richa, Sangeeta, Yogita , Neha , Meenakshi, Renuka & Goma!

Beauty of this saree stole my heart away 

This is one odd color that I don’t have in my saree ka personal khazana .. mostly it’s all other colors but this .. and o am glad I have this now 

I was indeed a happy soul when I got this from one of my saree Sakhee Ramani for sankranti .. celebrated her birthday at Nanidia's.

Went camping over the weekend to Wisconsin and while the day 1 was full of sunshine  masti and fun and late nights .. the next day was  thunderstorms and even a tornado  watch.. needless to say we came back .. ab looking forward to next time  !!

Saree of the day is a net saree with white embroidered flowers that brighten my day !!

 Jai Hind ..    yes, even though my karam bhoomi is Chicago I am a proud Indian at heart and no one can take that away from me 

Felt great to be featured in Chicago Tribune.. :-) 

How many times have you faced this challenge if you are an Indian living overseas.. does that even make sense when people judge you for being away from your motherland and question your Indian-ness or your American-ness for that matter.. my response : ignore those trolls and just take pride in our origin  our values and our invaluable connection  At the same time we are in this land of dreams and salute to all the good things that this country has given us, there is so much to learn here,  one imp thing that I believe in is to "Be true to yourself " rest will follow..

This day comes a day after my birthday and during school days I always thought why was I not born a day late .. little did I know that is not in the hands of my mom ..So yes, after celebrating my birthday yesterday super tiered and all exhausted in the Chicago downtown for a good 10+ hrs of non stop fun.. ( thx hubby for planning my special day !!! You scored a ) I was like I will just celebrate India’s Independence Day from home this day ..

And then comes my saree speak friend Tannavi’s message that she is heading to our neighborhood India day celebrations .. and my antennas went up.. just got hold of the nearest saree in my closet that reflected India’s rangeela spirit and here I was enjoying every moment of it 

A chiffon tie and dye saree with gota embroidery patchwork and beautiful border of brockade, this is my repeat saree but looks brand new and so apt for today !! 

 met so many of my fellow Indians and got such good compliments for my look and my saree..
