This is the story of my white cotton saree…
Off-white with a striking red & black border and a gorgeous peacock-painted anchal.
It literally took my breath away when I first saw it. And while I’ve been strongly advised to not buy white sarees
… I still went for it. Some sarees simply don’t let you walk away!
And today came the best part—an opportunity to wear it for a last-minute meetup with one of my absolute favorites… and in a saree, why not ! Because guess what… We’re both crazy about sarees.
As luck would have it, we’re from the same hometown—Bokaro Steel City, went to the same school, and somehow our paths crossed only in Chicago a few years ago.
Since then, we’ve literally grown together—not just in years, but in our perspectives, and in the process slowly learning more about each other. There’s something beautiful about friendships that evolve as you do.
And then there’s the whole “Di” thing!
I don’t generally give anyone the haq to call me “Di.” I’ve told her countless times, “Please don’t call me Di… just call me Pallavi!” But somehow, she has her own special way of showering me with love every time she says it.
And honestly… after all this time, I’ve finally come to terms with it.
It was her birthday this week, and we both share the same passion & love for celebrating our birthdays, dressing up, cutting cake, receiving gifts, and simply having a good time!

So here we were once again—having a great time, some good conversations, a little gossip (because obviously!
), and creating more memories at this Iranian coffee house
There was a little hiccup before we met in the parking lot .. but maybe that’s what life is all about—learning, understanding, choosing the positive, and moving forward. Because life doesn’t always go exactly as planned. What matters is how we choose to live on.
So here’s to good people, meaningful conversations, shared history, new memories, and lots of affirmative self-love.
Keep growing.
Keep learning.
Keep choosing joy.
And when life gives you a little hiccup… keep sareeing anyway and show up!

Happy Birthday, Surbhi !!

Here’s to many more sarees, birthdays, gossip sessions, and memories together!
