A chiffon with net and benarasi silk with beautiful cut work on the border and golden bootis .. green is the color of earth and nothing makes me feel special than the shades of green!! Paired with some mix and match blouse and jewellery ..

Had a tournament game for my only teenager daughter today morning and even though it was Diwali and we had loads of pending work for the evening gathering .. I wanted to just go see her play lacrosse .. she has been improving vastly and I wanted to be there for her .. cheer for her .. her team .. we drove for about an hr + to be at the venue early morning . My Kiddo did great and scored a lot of goals .. also got hit in the game .. the other player got a yellow card and my heart skipped a beat and tears almost appeared in my eyes .. she knew mom is watching the game and mentally strong that she is .. .. or maybe I just dreamt it .. her eyes looked for me.. our eyes met for a Sec .. there she was up and ready to play again.. she has a slight bone knee injury and a bruised shoulder .. but plans to go for early morning practice tomorow !!

As a mom it is so difficult to have your kid play contact sport .. but since she loves it ... is passionate about it .. I truly support her all my wishes for her .. well I am learning to support her even more every day .. because she needs it .. and I tell her .. this is my first time being a mom of a teenager .. and for you to be a teenage daughter .. so let’s cut each other some slack and we both will be fine

Came back home by 4pm and cooked the Diwali ka khana . In my sasuraal .. we cook poora rasoi .. and my Neighbour’s, friends all dropped by and enjoyed the yumminess and we had a gala time with food, songs, Sparklers and celebrations ..

It’s hartalika teej and today I returned home to Chicago from my all girls New York trip.. this trip was planned since a few months ago and i totally forgot that i needed to check for teej ..

Well.. since hubby dear is a college sweetheart too i wanted to get his opinion .. when i told him i was in a dilemma whether to go or not when i found out that teej was today .. and mind you.. in the last 19 yrs of our marriage have not missed any .. he was more than accommodating when he said you should go and do a travel version of teej.. respect and love for my chosen one reached a new level .. this is the man i choose to live with about 25 yrs ago.. ( 19 yrs of marriage + 4 years of college .. + 1 yr of job ) never forced me to fast or follow anything that I don’t believe in.. hubby is from Rajasthan where they do karvachauth and I am from Jharkhad ( BOKARO steel city ) where from childhood I have seen my mom do Teej .. so these are the 2 fasts I do without fail!

So.. last 3 days were great times enjoying the much needed freedom from work and house chores and just rejuvenating friendships with my besties .. painting the town RED and then i fly home today to celebrate teej.. fasted today .. started the fast with “I will drink water and maybe eat some nuts and coffee / tea as needed .. till 4 pm was all good and in the flight started feeling dizzy and ended up doing what the need of time was.. has a coffe and some almonds ..

just prayed in my mind that goddess Parvati and lord shiva will understand my love for hubby and will bestow their blessings none the less...

Hubby dear was there to pick me up at the airport .. went to temple .. came home and did pooja .. hubby was the one who recited the teej katha .. katha says hartalika means a friend who kidnapped goddess Parvati to the jungle and there she did severe fasting to get Shiva .. well there was some connection .. i was with all my girl friends and today 2 of us were fasting

Legs are paining (not the age for high heels head is hurting due sleepless nights the endless stories .. giggles.. laughter .. opinions .. gyan.. and walking aimlessly the streets of NY .. and still i am proud of us that we wanted to fast .. and did it !!!

Modern times need for being content and flexible in carrying the traditions and our culture ahead ..and i feel good that i was able to create my Travel version of Teej today!

Wore my all time fav orange color blended with my fav red color gorgette saree that I and earrings from my beautiful friend Ramani Deolalikar .. bangles from pune ka street shopping from my last India trip! This saree has small golden jeweled pipes as booties which makes it bright and Shiny !!

Bitiya rani was more than happy to click some pics .. Somehow everything came together .. where there is a will there is a way!! And while seeing the pics had a hard time choosing the one .. so 3 of them Here .. even though the first one has my tummy bulging .. time to get back to gym and remove all the cakes and pasties and cocktails in sweat!! Made sooji ka halwa for prasad!

A visit to my fav place Rajasthan .. not the best planned trip.. nonetheless.. have been in India for about a month now .. took the flight to India in an hour notice since dad was unwell in Ranchi and mom was anxious and troubled .. I have spend 20 Days non stop in hospital Icu and ward with him.. taking care of every small detail ..

Finally all is trending towards progress so he was discharged .. being the only daughter I had to step up and did not know that I had it it me to handle it in a new place and specially all the hospital relates stuff .. with emotions soaring high.. need your prayers and well wishes so he recovers fully .. still there is a lot of monitoring and care needed ..

My motto was take it one day at a time .. positive thoughts only .. and it did work .. managed talking to multiple doctors, learning online about what was going on .. taking decisions on behalf of my family .. being the son my parents never had . Was attendant to My daddy strongest who was looking pale and weakest as ever , motivating mom who was disoriented and in shock .. trying to adjust to a new place, specially India where processes are so different , managing working remote to support Chicago hrs , video calls to my teenager who needed no one else but me when she needed me .. khudos to supportive in-laws & relatives and work .. needless to say it was a learning but all for the greater good!!

Looks like everything is stable now and I have decided to head back to my 16 yr old, precious and super supportive hubby and my Chicago ..daughter duties done and now daughter-in-law duties calls .. this is my happy place 

So time to move from mayaka to sasuraal to meet my sis in law in Pune for a few hrs and then my in laws in Rajasthan (Churu) before I head home! Quality time spent with my mom in law .. much needed love and emotional support from them is a blessing 

Managed to get a crepe silk saree from my mother in law's closet.. no blouse here that fits me  so a lukhnow embroidered top and a big maroorn bindi just did the trick for me .. a smile on my face after a long time .. thanks to the saree Ka magic

A divine moment when I felt like a million dreams come true  came back from india a week back .. if you read my last post my dad was not well and i was there for a month to help and support him .. after a full month of hospitals and ICU and tests and doctors ..when I felt content that dad is now on his way to good recovery .. it's a satisfaction that can not be shared in words ..

Clad in a pure gorgette bandni that I got in my latest visit to my sasuraal .. rajasthan 

Happiness is a state of mind which is achievable when i wear a saree... all clad in colors of Christmas .. golden red and black .. this is indeed that time of the year..

Heading out with my saree sakhees for a lunch .. great minds think alike .somehow we all are clad in Christmas colors ..and to top it all .. beautiful sunday Sunshine to bask in Chicago in Dec . Lovely isn't it  feel like my old self again.. feels like I am in college again!!!

P.S. all 5 of us saree sakhees might just have broken the record of taking max no of pics for any outing  pics in commnets ..
